It is not quite the end of the month but these are not normal times. On Sunday, May 17th, the leaders of the cycling clubs in the greater Los Angeles area including La Grange, Big Orange, Bahati Foundation Cycling Club, Major Taylor Cycling Club of Los Angeles, Cali Riderz Cycling Club, and the San Fernando Valley Cycling Club had an online meeting. We are all in agreement with the unified message that we need to be sending to our respective members so we made a video that was then spliced and diced together by Rahsaan Bahati. Please view the video below. Ride safe. See you on the road later this summer? 🤔🚴♀️🚴♂️☕️

It’s “Giving Tuesday” so it is a good time to announce the generosity of our club members. We decided to create a GoFundMe campaign for the Los Angeles Food Bank with the goal of raising $2,500 to help feed those who are less fortunate in our great city. Not only did we meet the goal, we greatly surpassed it. One member who wants to remain anonymous contributed $1,000 and a different member and club sponsor matched the entire contribution, which raised the club’s total contribution to $8,404. You can still donate at https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/velo-club-la-grange. I would like to thank Marc Lewinstein for spearheading the fundraiser and the rest of the Board for helping our club accomplish the goal of feeding our fellow citizens of Los Angeles.

It’s Groundhog Day. What does that mean? Well, today is the same as yesterday, and the day of the week doesn’t really matter. “Safer at Home” orders are still in effect. All outdoor cycling events are canceled so there are no races to report, no LG50 monthly ride, no shenanigans on Nichols, Mandeville, Piuma, PCH, etc. to report. No new members signed up in April 2020. In other words, I got nothing to report. So go binge watch something online. If you have Netflix, they released “The Least Expected Day,” which is a 6 part series that follows the Moviestar team during the 2019 Giro d'Italia.
