Wednesday, 6:30AM departs from San Vicente Blvd. and Ocean Ave. (SVO) in Santa Monica
This weekly midweek ride is designed to offer a steady, social-paced alternative to faster weekday hammerfests. The route covers ~15 miles with ~1,200 ft of elevation gain and takes about an hour—perfect for those looking to get in quality early morning miles without redlining.
We begin with a short warmup through Brentwood passing by the golf course, followed by a steady climb up Bundy to Mount St. Mary’s, a favorite local ascent that averages 4–6% over about 1.5 miles. After a brief regroup and city views, we descend and climb again—this time to the Oakmont summit in West LA via a series of winding residential roads.
The pace stays conversational on flats and regroups after climbs. While no-drop, this ride assumes riders are clipped-in, comfortable on hills, and confident in traffic. Post-ride coffee is at Caffé Luxxe on 26th and San Vicente.
Safety Notes: This is a residential, pre-commute ride, so be alert for traffic, stop at all stop signs, and ride single file whenever possible. Descents include blind driveways and tight turns—control your speed and always ride defensively.
Tips for New Riders: This is a great intro ride for cyclists new to the club or those getting back into group riding. You’ll get a solid workout, great conversation, and some hidden climb gems in the city. Come early, be visible, and bring good vibes.
