The 2006 La Grange Piuma Hill Climb will be Saturday April 15. Even if you don't race, please come to cheer on your racing friends! Note: The group riding to the start will leave at San Vicente & Ocean at 8:00 a.m., right after the Club Photo. This is the same challenging course as last year. It's a mass start event (i.e., not a time trial). All riders will race up the 5.4-mile climb to the summit of Piuma, take a very technical one mile descent, then CAREFULLY turn left onto Schueren Road, and climb the final 1.8 miles to the intersection of Schueren and Stunt Road at Saddle Peak Ave. The route is 8.2 miles long with 2,260 feet of climbing. VCLGW MEMBERS ONLY !!! Medals will be awarded to the top finishers for the following USCF categories, in addition to KOM for the men & women: Men's cat. 1; 2; 3; 4; 5/public Women's cat. 1 /2; 3; 4/public Master's 45+ Master's 55+ Junior Those who are not USCF racers are eligbile to compete in the public category or in an appropriate Master's category. All club members are encouraged to participate. No entry fee will be charged and registration is not necessary. Wear your La Grange kit. Helmets are MANDATORY. All USCF rules apply including the centerline rule (i.e., if you cross over the yellow line, you will be disqualified.) This is not a formally sanctioned race, and the roads will be open to traffic, so please use caution, especially at the intersection of Piuma/Scheuren. Decisions made by the chief official are final. Winners will be announced and awards presented at the annual La Grange club picnic that afternoon Saturday April 15, 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. at Crestwood Park.
